Alumni

Sarah Bonnell Foundation Bursary Awards 2024

The Sarah Bonnell foundation awards encourages Sarah Bonnell Alumni students in their second year of University to apply for a £250 bursary. Should you be interested Please complete the following form by 16th December 2024.

The amazing Alumni community at Sarah Bonnell School is growing and actively engaged in sharing success stories and giving back through volunteering.

We believe that alumni involvement is vital to ensure we can have a significant positive impact on the current student body and contribute to a sense of continuity and community within the school.

If you are a former student of this school, we hope this inspires you to join our alumni community by signing up through Future First via the QR Code

Here’s a few examples of how our Alumni community have engaged with the school over the last few years.

Mentorship Opportunities: Alumni volunteers serve as mentors to current students, providing guidance, advice, and insights into various career paths. These sessions have been meaningful and create connections, helping students make informed decisions about their future.

Governors and Trustees: Alumni volunteers can also serve as governors and trustees on our school and trust board.

Career Talks and Workshops: We have had many Alumni contribute to the school’s career guidance initiatives by participating in career talks, workshops, or panel discussions. Sharing their career journeys, challenges, and successes have inspired and motivated current students as they plan their own futures.

Networking Opportunities: Our Alumni have helped expand students’ professional networks by introducing them to various industries, connecting them with professionals, and providing information about internship or job opportunities.

Guest Speaker Series: We have invited alumni to speak at school events and assemblies which have offered students valuable insights into real-world experiences. Alumni speakers have discussed their academic and professional journeys, emphasising the importance of perseverance, passion, and continuous learning.

Volunteer Programmes: Our Alumni are passionate about contributing their time and skills to school initiatives, whether it’s assisting with extracurricular activities, participating in community service projects, or contributing to special events. Their involvement enhances the overall school community and reinforces the idea of giving back.

Building a Supportive Community: Our thriving alumni community creates a sense of camaraderie among former students. By coming back to school, alumni have strengthened connections with each other and with current students, fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.

Success Story Showcases: Every year we highlight alumni success stories through newsletters, social media, our annual Alumni get together event which in turn inspire current students and demonstrate the diverse paths that are possible after they leave secondary school.

Our Alumni, now thriving in diverse fields and professions, had the chance to reconnect with former classmates, teachers, and other members of the SBonnell community. The exchange of experiences, career insights, and shared memories fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie among attendees.

Events like these play a crucial role in ensuring that our school remains connected with its community and that alumni maintain strong ties with each other. The gathering served as a reminder of the bonds formed during their time at Sarah Bonnell and the shared experiences that continue to connect them even after graduation

We eagerly anticipate the continued growth of the SBonnell Alumni Network. These connections not only strengthen the ties between past and present but also inspire current students with the diverse achievements of their predecessors.

Staff Alumni

Former students often return to give back to our school and we currently have the following alumni as members of our staff team. They are an asset to our school community and proud to share their experiences of being students at this school.

We currently have 3 alumni working as Computer Science Teacher & Scholarship Coordinator, Learning Hub Lead and Science Teacher

Future First enables us to share the achievements of our alumni. Here are a few of profiles to give you a flavour of the contribution our alumni go on to make in the wider community:

Future First’s film ‘Someone Like Me’ which features students from Sarah Bonnell, has been nominated for a Charity Film Award!

As we continue to celebrate diversity and elevate student voices, we look forward to more opportunities to share the incredible stories that make our school community truly exceptional.
