Online Safety at Sarah Bonnell School
At Sarah Bonnell School, the online safety of our students, staff, and wider community is a top priority. As a National Online Safety Certified School, we are committed to creating a safe and supportive digital environment where all members of our community can thrive.
Our Approach to Online Safety:
We take a whole-school approach to online safety, embedding it across the Computer Science curriculum and through our pastoral systems. Students receive regular, age-appropriate guidance through PSHE lessons, tutor time, and assemblies, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
We are also proud to have a strong team of Student Digital Leaders who play a key role in promoting positive digital behaviour across the school. These students help raise awareness, lead campaigns, and act as peer ambassadors for safe and responsible technology use.
Staff Training and Parent Engagement:
All staff receive up-to-date training on online safety to ensure they are well-prepared to support students and address emerging risks. We also work closely with parents and carers, offering workshops with our online safety Lead, Ms Adel , information booklets and mini app guidance, as well as access to resources from National Online Safety, to help them stay informed and involved in their daughter’s digital life.
Support for Students and Families:
We provide a strong support network for students, including access to our pastoral team, safeguarding leads, and trusted adults. Students know how to report concerns and are encouraged to speak up if something online is making them feel uncomfortable. Parents are also supported through guidance, 1:1 meetings with our online safety lead and resources that help them manage online safety at home.
Together, we are committed to building a culture of digital responsibility and resilience at Sarah Bonnell School.
